IdaFlo TR — the last step of transradial, finally measured
IdaFlo TR is a single-use wristband from IDAHealth that reads radial artery blood flow in real time, positioned distal to any existing compression band. It keeps arterial patency measured and maintained throughout compression, not inferred between spot-checks, so hemostasis after transradial cardiac catheterization is confirmed by continuous data.
The problem it solves: after more than 14.5 million transradial procedures a year, compression to stop bleeding is applied without measurement. Radial artery occlusion still runs around 13 percent, and a bedside pulse check misses 34 to 52 percent of occluded arteries. No device measured whether the artery stays open during compression, IdaFlo TR is that device.
The evidence: in the PROPHET trial (Pancholy, 2008), patent hemostasis reduced radial artery occlusion by 59 percent at 24 hours and 75 percent at 30 days. In a 2025 randomized trial, an actively managed deflation protocol (Takamatsu) cut hemostasis time from 308 to 112 minutes. Losing the radial forces a return to the groin, with more vascular complications (RIVAL, 2011) and higher adverse events (MATRIX, 2015).
